Feature request - Show reason on Block Page
Ability for the block page to state the reason for the block. This helps tremendously for the impacted user to understand why the site/service was blocked and cuts down the number of requests to IT support to “fix” their issue.
This is a feature that exists in competing platforms.
Thanks!

Hi caleb.brown , thanks for reaching out! The DNSFilter hosted block page does provide details like you describe: it includes the blocked domain, filtering policy, and, if blocked by a category, includes that category as well. If the domain is blocked by the policy's Block List the message will read, “due to a network filtering policy.”
It sounds like this isn't your experience, which could mean your organization is using an External Block Page set up to not display this info, or the blocked domains users attempt are on the Block List. Please comment with a screenshot of what you see and our team can investigate any abnormalities!
If you're looking for different information to be displayed on the block page, we'd love to here about it! You can submit a feature request from the DNSFilter dashboard or our Canny page.

Thanks for the screenshot, caleb.brown ! That is unknown connection page, which means the service connection is failing, most commonly due to missing IP Addresses in your dashboard configuration or transparent proxying.
Here's a troubleshooting article for this issue; let me know if this helps!
If you're still running into issues after checking these items, you can open a ticket with N-Able and they can further assist. Include these items to help them work on a solution:
- nslookup results (see the troubleshooting article)
- your screenshot of the unknown connection page
- and—if you have roaming clients deployed—diagnostic logs from a device experiencing the issue
