macOS Roaming Client System Requirements

Hi all,

I’m hoping someone from DNSFilter can clarify the current macOS Roaming Client support situation, as the information in the dashboard and documentation appears inconsistent.

My dashboard currently shows:

  • Production: v2.3.13
  • Beta: v2.4.5

However, the June 24 changelog states that v2.4.2 was released to the Production channel. Has v2.4.2 subsequently been withdrawn or rolled back, and is v2.3.13 currently the recommended Production release?

There is also some confusion around macOS version support.

The v2.4.5 Beta notes state:

Starting with v2.4.4, the macOS Roaming Client requires macOS 13 Ventura or later. macOS 12 Monterey is no longer supported.

My understanding was that the current supported macOS requirement for v2.3.13 was macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

Could DNSFilter please clarify:

  1. What is the current recommended Production macOS client version?
  2. Was v2.4.2 withdrawn from Production?
  3. Does v2.4.5 officially support macOS 13 Ventura, or is macOS 13 only the technical installation minimum while official support remains macOS 14+?
  4. What is the minimum supported macOS version for v2.3.13?

It would be useful to have a definitive support matrix covering client version → minimum supported macOS version, particularly for MSPs managing mixed macOS fleets.

    Great questions, Matt! Happy to clear these up!

    Current recommended Production version: v2.3.13 (released July 1, 2026) is the current Production macOS Roaming Client.

    On v2.4.2: Yes, it was withdrawn from Production after release and is no longer rolling out — you'll see it listed at 0% in the auto-update column. v2.4.5 is the current Beta version.

    On macOS 13 Ventura support: Ventura (13) is officially supported — it's not just a technical install minimum. The supported macOS versions for the Roaming Client are Ventura (13), Sonoma (14), Sequoia (15), and Tahoe (26).

    On the minimum supported version for v2.3.13: Ventura (13) and newer.
