🤖 GenAI classifications: What’s going on and how to stay ahead
If you’ve noticed some domains suddenly showing up under GenAI & Machine Learning, you’re not imagining things. We regularly rescan websites, and as sites start leaning heavily into AI features or integrations (think ChatGPT mentions, AI widgets, or “powered by GenAI” banners), it can get reclassified automatically.
To avoid any surprise blocks in your environment, here’s how to stay one step ahead:
🎯 Use AppAware to block specific GenAI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Grammarly.
💡 Request new AppAware additions if you spot a tool we haven’t added yet
🔐 Block the GenAI category, then add approved tools to your policy or Universal Allow List
📨 Submit a Domain Report if something looks miscategorized—sometimes marketing buzzwords can trick the classifier
