DNSFilter accounts can utilize the Users feature to apply policies and view reporting on a per-user basis. Using this feature enables more detailed reporting and troubleshooting.
In order for Users to populate in the dashboard, the following must be true:
- A Roaming Client is installed on the device
- All applicable users must login to the device
- The device has communicated with DNSFilter at least once after the user has logged in
Users will auto-generate in the dashboard once detected from the Roaming Client.
Users can also be synced via Active Directory to easily add to Collections.
Apply a user-based Filtering Policy
Apply Filtering Policies, Filtering Schedules, and Block Pages on a per-user basis from the Users tab. Users are the most specific attribute to apply policies to; overruling policies applied to broader attributes like Collections or Network Sites.
Follow these steps to update User settings.
- From the DNSFilter dashboard, navigate to Deployments and select Users
- Locate the User to update
- To update the Filtering Policy or Filtering Schedule, use the drop down caret next to the current policy to select the desired policy/schedule
- To update the Block Page, use the drop down caret next to the current Block Page to select the desired Block Page
The changes will take affect immediately and the User will experience these updated policies.
