This article covers how to diagnose and correct a site that is blocked but should be allowed under the applied Filtering Policy.
Receiving a block notification
If a block page notification appears for a site, check the following:
- The correct policy is applied to the correct site or agent. From the DNSFilter dashboard, navigate to Deployments and verify the correct policy is applied to the location or agent. Policy assignments may have changed, resulting in a different policy applying to the site or agent in question
- The site is not blocked due to a blocked category. Navigate to Tools and select Query Log to review the category shown for the domain and whether it was blocked. The Domain Report tool can also be used to enter the Fully-Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of a website and view its applicable categories
To allow access to a specific site while still blocking the overall category, add the domain to the Policy Allow List. This circumvents the category block for that domain.
Receiving a partially-loaded site
If a website only partially loads, some site resources are blocked by the policy while other content is allowed. The Pages Not Loading article provides a detailed walkthrough for identifying additional sites to add to the Allow List so that the page loads fully.
