What we know
On 8 October 2024 DNSFilter released an app update that fixed a bug concerning using the API to update Universal and Standard Allow/Block Lists.
This bug allowed for the same domain to be added to both an Universal/Standard Allow and Block List without notification or error message: The API will no longer allow this to happen.
The side effect
If the organization's Allow/Block Lists are in a state with duplicate domains on opposite lists the policy may fail to save other updates until the duplicate entry is removed.
Admins will see a Policy failed to update error in the UI and a 422 error in the network tab for the /policies/{org id}
call that reads, Error: duplicate domains exist in opposing Domain list: [list of domains on opposing lists]
How to resolve the issue
Remove the duplicate domain(s) from the appropriate list and the policy will save successfully for that change and any subsequent changes.
