We’ve rolled out a new subscription management dashboard for Sales-managed multi-tenant (MSP) accounts, giving greater flexibility, transparency, and control over each organization’s subscriptions. You can now assign access plans and licenses at the organization level, making it easier to manage services and bill customers accurately.
This is an informational update only—no billing adjustments are being made with the launch of this dashboard.
What’s New
➡️ Add-on Feature Control per Organization. Enable the Data Export feature for specific organizations instead of applying it to all or none. This allows tailored functionality for each client’s needs without affecting others. Contact our Sales team to add feature access.
🎓 This also means Education clients can now access Data Export! Purchase the appropriate volume for the Organization and toggle on the feature to begin exporting their data at regular intervals.
➡️ PSA Integrations for Easier Billing. Gain access to Professional Services Automation (PSA) integrations to simplify client billing and reduce manual work.
➡️ At-a-Glance View of Organization Usage. Instantly see each Organization's total Roaming Clients and Network traffic, making it easier to determine accurate license counts (and maybe identify a little cleanup work along the way!).
Subscription Management navigation
Access the Subscription Management page from MSP in the DNSFilter dashboard.
Available Subscriptions
These tiles represent the total licenses in use (more below) and purchased licenses for each plan purchased by the account. Don't be alarmed if these numbers are not aligned:
- All existing Organizations default to 1 allocated license
- The Roaming Client count includes both active and inactive agents. Run the Clean Up Tool to get an accurate Roaming Client total
These totals should align as individual Organization licenses adjust.
Needs Attention
To help visualize adjustments, these notifications include a quick filter (select View) to show Organizations with inaccurate counts.
Add Organization
Add new Organizations directly from the Subscription page, streamlining business growth!
- From Subscriptions, select Add Organization
- Name the Organization
- Update the Organization record:
- Description (if applicable)
- Plan Type
- License Count
- Add-ons (if applicable)
- External ID, which is useful to identify what Organization sent a Block Page request
View Usage Metrics
A chart showing Roaming Client and Network Traffic license counts for all Organizations combined over the past six months. Each type is color-coded with an interactive legend, and hovering over bars reveals exact license counts and dates.
License allocation data filters
Adjust data preferences just like the DNS Query Log or Deployment Management pages: select Preferences > Columns to show/hide these options.
| Organization | The Organization name found in the MSP Organization list. |
| Plan | The Organization's pricing plan tier. This field defaults to the highest paid tier for all Organizations, e.g. if you service Basic and Pro plans, all Organizations will display Pro until updated. |
| Allocated Licenses |
The total licenses allocated to that Organization. This field defaults to 1 until updated. 🚨Important: This value is used for PSA integration and feature add-ons like Data Export. Make sure it is accurate before enabling the integration. |
| Roaming Clients in Use | Total agents associated with the account. If this total seems high, run the Clean Up Tool to remove stale agents from the dashboard. |
| Network Traffic in Use |
Estimated count based on total network deployment queries ÷ 10,000 (the acceptable use of queries per user per day) Roaming Client traffic is not included in this equation. |
| Current License Usage | Combined total of Roaming Clients + network traffic. As a starting point, we recommend using this total to adjust the allocated licenses column. |
| Add-ons |
Options for additional Wi-Fi Access Points and enabling Data Export. ✍️ Data Export must be purchased before Add-ons can adjust. Update the License field before enabling Data Export for the Organization to accurately allocate the purchase. |
| Description | An optional field to add Organization information, e.g. billing address or contact preferences. |
| Created | The date the Organization was created. |
| Updated | The date the Organization was last updated. This includes any dashboard update such as adding a Site or updating Filtering Policies. |
How to adjust Organization plans and license counts
Follow these steps to adjust an Organization's plan, add-ons, or license count.
- (Optional) Use the Clean Up Tool to remove stale Roaming Clients from the DNSFilter dashboard
- Navigate to MSP and select Subscriptions
- Search for the Organization to update
- Select the Edit icon from the Actions menu
- Adjust the Plan Type and/or License Count fields. If applicable, enable Data Export or Wi-Fi Access Points
- Select the Save Organization to apply the updates
The Organization subscription is now accurate. This does not impact billing invoices or subscription access at this time.
