This guide covers the Policies section of the DNSFilter dashboard.
The Policies section of the dashboard houses Filtering Policy, Allow/Block List, and Block Page configurations, which define and control the end-user experience when using DNSFilter.
Filtering
Navigate here to manage Filtering Policies.
This tab includes functions to:
- Search Filtering Policies
- Filter by All, Assigned, Unassigned policies
- Add new policies
- Edit, duplicate, or delete an existing Filtering Policy
Click into any Filtering Policy to add/remove filters by category, threat, or application, as well as manage Allow/Block Lists, enable SafeSearch, and set advanced extra settings to enhance end-user's online safety.
Filtering Schedules
Configure multiple policies throughout a day or week with Filtering Schedules.
Much like the Filtering tab, Filtering Schedules includes search and assigned/unassigned filters; as well as add, edit, and delete functions.
Universal Lists
Universal Allow and Block Lists create a base layer of protection that spans all Filtering Policies. Add up to 1,000 domains to either the Allow or Block list from this tab.
This tab includes options to:
- Create an Universal Allow or Block List
- Upload .CSV files or manually add domains
- Search list contents
- Edit or delete entries
Block Pages
Customize what an end-user sees when a domain is blocked using Block Pages.
Alongside the search, add, edit, and delete functions, the Block Page tab displays preview information:
- Logo thumbprint
- Block Page name
- It's Global page status
- Organization's name
- The email address that receives notifications
- How many Sites use the Block Page
