With pricing plans Pro and above, Filtering Policies can be applied to Users, Collections, Relays, Roaming Clients, and Sites, so it's important to understand the Filtering Policy hierarchy while configuring an environment.
Filtering Policies applied to the wrong environment attribute can disrupt usage or allow unwanted threats into the environment.
When applying Filtering Policies, there are two things to keep in mind:
- The most specific filtering rules are enforced
- When specificity is equal, Allow List rules are enforced
Filtering Policy hierarchy
This list displays available Filtering Policy levels from most specific--a rule set here will trump any other rule--to most broad--a blanket rule that can be overruled by rules set on any of the other environment attributes.
Find these settings from the DNSFilter dashboard under Deployments.
- Users
- Collections
- Roaming Clients
- Relays (only applicable when a Relay is deployed)
- Sites
